These series are titled NBSAP, Pune Tree Watch, and Protected Area Project Updates, with each series containing multiple sub-series organized by specific themes or regions.
1. NBSAP (National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan)
The first series documents Kalpavriksh’s role in decentralizing the NBSAP process. Initially planned at the national and state levels, Kalpavriksh, alongside the Technical and Policy Core Group (comprising experts and activists from across India), proposed the development of independent, stand-alone BSAPs for each state and union territory. The NBSAP series contains 13 sub-series, classified according to different levels of administration and working groups. These sub-series include:
Sub-Series 1: State Level: Nodal Agencies and Committees- State Steering Committees( SSC)
Sub-Series 2: Sub-State Level: Nodal Agencies and Local Area Committees (LACs
Sub-Series 3: Ecoregions: Nodal Agencies and Working Groups (EWGs)
Sub-Series 4: Themes: Nodal Persons and Working Groups (TWGs)
Sub-Series 5: Sub-thematic Reviews (ST)
Sub-Series 6: Administration
Sub-Series 7: National Action Plan
Sub-Series 8: Drafts and Final Prints of state
Sub-Series 9: Drafts and Final Prints of sub-state (LAC)
Sub-Series 10: Drafts and Final Prints of Eco Regions
Sub-Series 11: Concept Notes, Drafts and Final Prints of Thematic Papers
Sub-Series 12: Final Prints of Sub-Thematic Papers
Sub-Series 13: Publicity Materials and Media Clippings
Each of the first five sub-series consists of correspondence between the members of the working groups, minutes of meetings made by each of them, Proceedings, reports, and research references.
The Administration sub-series consists of administrative materials as part of the formation of NBSAP. It captures both the administrative and technical aspects of the making of the NBSAP.
The series on National Action Plan consists of drafts of the eight chapters of the NAP and has a document on the commonalities between BSAP and NAP.
Additionally, the next five sub-series includes draft and final reports related to the different level of adinistration of NBSAP process. .
2. Pune Tree Watch
The second series focuses on the efforts of Pune Tree Watch, a local initiative aimed at protecting and preserving the tree cover in Pune. Since its inception in 2005, Pune Tree Watch has been instrumental in preventing illegal tree felling, advocating for stronger tree protection laws, conducting tree surveys, and raising public awareness about the importance of trees in urban spaces. The series is divided into several sub-series, each focused on different aspects of the project:
Correspondence (arranged alphabetically)
Legal Proceedings (arranged chronologically)
Administration and Policy Documents (arranged alphabetically)
Research Materials (including surveys, campaigns, and data)
Publicity Material
Media Clippings
These sub-series provide a detailed record of the activities and advocacy efforts undertaken by Pune Tree Watch.
3. Protected Area Project Updates
The third series provides updates on protected areas across India. This series is organized by state and region, with 25 sub-series dedicated to the specific protected areas in each state. There is also one sub-series containing general updates for India and South Asia as a whole.
