Gopal S Rawat is a wildlife biologist associated with the Wildlife Institute of India. His research interests include long-term ecological monitoring of high-altitude ecosystems, ecology and management of alpine rangeland/alpine meadows, and orchid systematics and ecology. The papers include Rawat's PhD thesis, notebooks and diaries, checklists of plants, and illustrations of plants.</dc:description><dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The intellectual arrangement strives to preserve provenance and original order of the papers. Where an original order could not be found, the Archives has applied an order, and folders within sub-series are arranged usually in chronological or alphabetical order. See Scope and Content section for details.</dc:description><dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Series one contains material related to Rawat's scientific research. This includes a sub-series dedicated to field notebooks, research reference notes and sketch books. These have been arranged chronologically. The second sub-series contains Rawat's PhD and DSc theses.
The second series only contains Rawat's contact card. This series has been maintained to accomodate more material that might be donated to the Archives in the future.</dc:description><dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Gopal S Rawat is a wildlife botanist who specialises in alpine plant ecology. Rawat was faculty at the Wildlife Institute of India and has also worked at Botanical Survey of India. 
Rawat works on high altitude ecosystems and studies ecosystmes in alpine rangeland and meadows.
